Snow load on roofs: Closure of sports halls, school gyms and swimming pools necessary as a precaution from Wednesday
City administration decides due to further announced snowfall
Due to the weather forecast, which predicts further heavy snowfall on Wednesday night and thus further increasing snow loads on the roofs, the city has decided to close gyms , swimming pools and the municipal swimming pool as a precautionary measure from tomorrow, Wednesday, until further notice.
In addition to the gyms of the schools listed below, other sports and swimming halls and the municipal swimming pool are also affected. From tomorrow, these public facilities will be operationally assessed to determine how long the closures must be maintained.
The City of Chemnitz will inform the facilities of the necessary closure by email and fax. In addition, increased attention was requested in order to be able to detect and react to any changes.
The following school gyms will initially be closed until the weekend:

The schools themselves are not affected by the temporary closure. School lessons will also take place as normal tomorrow, Wednesday. As thawing weather is forecast from the weekend, it is currently assumed that the closure will continue until at least then. When the thaw sets in, it will also be a matter of organising the drainage.
Notes: The City of Chemnitz/Building Management and Structural Engineering also asks for increased attention in the free-standing sports halls of the schools not mentioned in the list. Any changes that have been detected or even just suspected, especially to the roof structure or hall ceilings, must be reported to the responsible property managers.
The temporary closures required in the public gyms and swimming pools will be publicised by notices at the entrance or in the foyer.
