Snow load on forest trees harbours dangers when walking in the forest
Due to the current weather conditions, the City of Chemnitz Parks Department is asking citizens to pay particular attention when entering the forest:
The wet snow that has been lying on the trees since today can lead to the sudden breaking off of large branches or entire treetops due to the additional load. Younger and weaker trees in particular can also lie diagonally across the paths.
The Parks Department would like to draw your attention to the significantly increased risk when visiting the forest under the current conditions and therefore recommends that you refrain from walking in the forest until further notice. Entering the forest is always at your own risk.
There is also an increased risk of branches breaking in Chemnitz's green spaces.
People are also warned against entering the parks until further notice.
