Snow fences will be erected from Monday
With a view to the winter season, the construction of so-called snow fences will begin on Monday (28 October) in the area for which the City of Chemnitz is responsible, initially at locations that could be particularly affected by drifting snow in the event of heavy snowfall.
A total of almost nine kilometres of snow fences are being erected on road sections in the Chemnitz districts of Wittgensdorf, Kleinolbersdorf-Altenhain, Klaffenbach, Röhrsdorf, Euba and Einsiedel and in the Adelsberg and Stelzendorf areas, among others.also on the right-hand side of Südring in the area between Adelsbergstraße and Augustusburger Straße and on the left-hand side of Jägerschlösschenstraße in the area after Richterweg.
The installation of snow fences in areas affected by drifting snow will also ensure that the flow of traffic for local residents is not impaired.
The city's civil engineering department is responsible for erecting the snow fences and has put the work out to tender. The contract was awarded and JVA Chemnitz was commissioned to erect the snow fences.
