Situation eases: more roads open

130 forces still on duty during the night - schools open again

The flood situation in the city eased further during the night. Further roads were reopened to traffic after being cleaned by the ASR and checked by the civil engineering department:

  • Annaberger Straße (between Reichenhainer Straße and Treffurthstraße)
  • Einsiedler Straße
  • Erfenschlager Straße
  • Olbernhauer Straße (between Annaberger Straße and ACC)
  • Reichsstraße (Innerer Stadtring area)

During the night, the fire brigade, volunteer fire brigades and the city administration continued to deploy 130 personnel. They pumped out flooded cellars and checked the waterways. The ASR was busy cleaning the streets throughout the night.

Meanwhile, the rivers continued to recede. The Chemnitz at 2.04 metres and the Zwönitz at 1.54 metres are still in flood warning level 1, while the Würschnitz at 1.20 metres is also outside the flood warning levels, as are the 2nd order Pleißenbach and Kappelbach.

Lessons will resume today at Chemnitz schools. Exceptions to this are the school buildings that cannot yet be used due to flooding or building damage: These are the Einsiedel grammar school, Annen primary and secondary school, Altchemnitz learning support school and Harthau primary school. The property at Philipp-Straße 20 can only be used to a limited extent.

The daycare centres in Moritzstraße (alternative property: Waisenstraße 3) and Einsiedler Hauptstraße (alternative property: Reichenhainer Straße 33) remain closed today. The day-care centres in Schulstraße and Gustav-Freytag-Straße have reopened.

Please only call the emergency number and the fire brigade control centre for people in danger and medical emergencies. For all other questions, please call the citizens' hotline, which is also open today on 0371/488 33 44.
