The Chemnitz Environmental Prize for Children and Young People is awarded annually by the City of Chemnitz Environmental Agency on the occasion of "Environment Day". Children and young people (up to the age of 20) can enter their individual or joint projects for the attractive prizes on offer.

Over the past 28 years, countless participants have actively contributed to the protection and shaping of our environment with creativity, skill and perseverance in researching and tinkering with many interesting projects or with practical work on a wide variety of objects and in nature. Parents, teachers, educators and leaders of working groups have also made and continue to make a significant contribution to teaching children and young people about the need and possibilities for active action to preserve and shape our environment.

The Chemnitz Environmental Award is supported by eins energie, Südsachsen Wasser GmbH and the waste disposal and city cleaning organisation of the city of Chemnitz (ASR).
