Sewer and road construction project on Barbarossastrasse
Full closure from Monday between Eulitzstrasse and Weststrasse
As part of the sewer construction and road renovation work on Barbarossastrasse, Barbarossastrasse between Eulitzstrasse and Weststrasse will be fully closed to traffic from Monday, 4 August 2014.
The extensive work should be completed by the end of October 2014.
The work is being jointly commissioned by the waste disposal company of the city of Chemnitz (ESC) and the city of Chemnitz/civil engineering department and includes the renovation of the combined sewer and the house connection sewers as well as the construction of the entire width of the road. Around 420,000 euros will be invested.
The Chemnitz-based company ATS Chemnitz GmbH has been commissioned with the construction work.
Information from the traffic authority: The diversion of road traffic necessary during the construction work will be via Heinrich-Beck-Straße - Ulmenstraße - Weststraße; in the direction of the city, traffic will be routed via Ahornstraße (instead of Heinrich-Beck-Straße).
Pedestrians can continue to use the footpaths without any restrictions. A mobile traffic light system in front of Eulitzstraße offers pedestrians a safe crossing of Barbarossastraße (as an alternative to the stationary pedestrian traffic light).
Public transport will also be affected by the full closure of Barbarossastrasse. For information on bus stop relocations and route changes, please refer to the CVAG publications at www.cvag.de.
