"Security at what price?"
Adult education centre: Discussion on 27 October, 7 p.m., TIETZ, event hall
On Wednesday, 27 October, from 7 to 8.30 pm, the adult education centre is hosting a panel discussion on the topic of security in Chemnitz and the police law for Saxony.
The focus will be on the use and evaluation of data by security authorities and the general debate about security versus freedom, which is still a controversial issue. Admission is free.
This evening's panellists will be
- Marie Bröckling, author at netzpolitik.org and expert on the police law in the state parliaments of North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony
- Miko Runkel, Mayor for Law, Security and Environmental Protection of the City of Chemnitz
- Albrecht Pallas, criminal investigator and member of the Saxon state parliament (SPD)
Security can be described as the certainty that everything is in perfect order. Increasingly, this certainty seems to be dwindling and many citizens feel unsafe in the city and in their living environment. Statisticians, however, speak of safe times. The event aims to address these different perceptions.
This event is a co-operation between the Chemnitz Municipal Prevention Council, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre.
