School year 2014/15 - Preview of dates: 5th education fair and 17th school theatre week
New school guide from the city of Chemnitz is presented at the education fair
Pupils, parents and teachers in Chemnitz like to make a note of two special events in their annual school diaries: The education fair held in late autumn of each new school year and the Chemnitz School Theatre Week, which is also regularly scheduled in spring.
Education fair: The 5th Education Fair of the City of Chemnitz will take place on Saturday, 22 November 2014 from 10 am to 1 pm in the "Orangerie" in the New Lecture Hall Building of Chemnitz University of Technology, Reichenhainer Straße 90. As in the past four years, representatives from secondary schools and grammar schools will once again have the opportunity to present their schools' programmes with first-hand information, provide information about their schools' educational programmes and talk directly to parents and pupils in years 3 and 4 about the future educational path of primary school pupils. In addition, pupils transferring from secondary school to grammar school or from grammar school to secondary school should be supported in their choice of school.
In addition to the municipal schools in Chemnitz taking part this time - currently eleven secondary schools and seven grammar schools - three independent institutions (Waldorf School Chemnitz, Protestant School Centre Chemnitz, Secondary Montessori School Chemnitz) will be taking part in the 5th Education Fair.
The school administration office of the city of Chemnitz will also use this year's education fair to present the new school guide, which will be published as a brochure on 22 November 2014 and online at www.chemnitz.de. In addition to the schools, the Saxon Education Agency, Chemnitz Regional Office, the City Pupils' Council and Chemnitzer Verkehrs AG will also be represented at the 5th Education Fair.
School Theatre Week: For the committed organisers of the successful municipal project School Theatre Week in Chemnitz - jointly organised, prepared and carried out by the City of Chemnitz/School Administration Office and Städtisches Theater Chemnitz gGmbH - planning and preparations for the 17th edition have already begun: The "17th" will be held from 19 to 24 April 2015 and school theatre groups from the city and surrounding area can apply to take part until 12 December 2014. From 6 January 2015, the jury members - representatives from the school administration office, education agency and theatre - will once again go on tour to all theatre groups that have applied to take part. The tour will be completed on 28 January 2015 and the jury's decision on who will take part in the 17th Chemnitz School Theatre Week will be published on 30 January 2015.
Please note: The press conference for the 17th Chemnitz School Theatre Week with representatives from the city and theatre will take place on Monday, 13 April 2015.
