School and sports department is again divided into two offices
With effect from 1 July 2018, the Schools and Sports Department will once again be split into the two departments "Schools Department" and "Sports Department". The reasons for this include the increased challenges for school network planning as a result of population growth, the increase in tasks and responsibilities as a result of the amendment to the Education Act, the extensive planning and implementation requirements due to various school construction funding programmes and significantly increasing investments in the sports sector.
The two new head of office positions "Head of School Office" and "Head of Sports Office" will be advertised. The aim is to fill them by 1 July 2018.
The School and Sports Committee is to be retained in its current form even after the separation.
As the offices will be separated within one department, no resolution by the City Council is required.
