Schlossstraße cycle route opened
Today, the completed Schloßstraße cycle lane was officially opened to traffic following the acceptance of the construction work.
Schloßstraße between Arndtstraße - from the Am Schloßteich sports centre - and Theunertstraße has been converted into a cycle lane. A connecting path was created for pedestrians and cyclists only and the street space was redesigned. The basis for this was the development plan "Z3 - Schloßteich, Brückenpark sub-area, 1st amendment" (development plan no. 93/24), which was adopted by the city council in 2017 (B-104/2017). A carriageway and footpaths were created to separate pedestrians and cyclists.
As a rule, the carriageway should only be used by cyclists, which is why the cycle lane was set up without authorisation for other modes of transport.
However, in exceptional cases, e.g. when diversions are required, the carriageway can also be opened up to other modes of transport.
The construction work began on 10 May. The construction costs totalled approx. 320,000 euros.
With the completion of this section, the entire Schloßstraße, from Georgstraße to Hartmannstraße, has now been completely renewed.
