Monday, 24 November
Premiere of the "Monday Round Table" discussion series: The guests on the podium of the first event, at which contemporary witnesses of the events in Chemnitz during the autumn of the fall of communism in 1989 want to talk to the audience, include the then theatre director Hartwig Albiro and Hasko Weber, then head of the "Dramatic Brigade" and now artistic director of the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar.

Tuesday, 25 November

Deutsche Bahn invites you to a public information event on the Annaberger Straße railway viaduct. Mayor Petra Wesseler will represent the City of Chemnitz.

With the cutting of the large Christmas stollen, Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig opens the Chemnitz Christmas Market 2014 around the 30 metre high Christmas spruce together with Father Christmas and Türmer Stefan Weber (PM 658 from 13.11.2014).

Invitation to visit the 36thedition of the "Days of Erzgebirge Folklore": Under the motto "Advent in the Erzgebirge", both days of the event (29.11. and 30.11.) will feature presentations of traditional and modern folklore.), the programme includes presentations of traditional and modern arts and crafts with around 60 exhibitors from the region, festive folkloric music and dance performances and a Secret Santa workshop for the youngest visitors.

Mayor Barbara Ludwig welcomes the participants of the Great Mining Parade, traditionally organised in Chemnitz on the eve of the 1st Advent.

This year marks the 36th time that the mountain parade has been held in Chemnitz.

Premiere of "Brüderchen und Schwesterchen", a Christmas tale based on the Brothers Grimm for children aged four and over. With this performance, the new director of the puppet theatre, Gundula Hoffmann, introduces herself to the Chemnitz audience.

Time and place: 4 pm, theatre, small stage.

The Rossini opera "La Cenerentola" (Cinderella) premieres in a production by Kobie van Rensburg, with Felix Bender as musical director. The performance will be in Italian with German surtitles.

Sunday, 30 November

Mayor Barbara Ludwig congratulates Siegmund Rotstein, honorary citizen of Chemnitz, on his 89th birthday. Rotstein served as chairman of the Jewish community in Karl-Marx-Stadt/Chemnitz from 1966 to 2006 and has been honorary chairman of the community since 2007.
