The traditional St. Martin's Festival on 11 November begins at 4 pm on Theaterplatz. The lantern procession starts here at 5.40 p.m. and, accompanied by tower keeper Stefan Weber, leads to Chemnitz Town Hall this year. At the end of the event, which is supported by the City of Chemnitz, tower wind players will play music from the balcony of the Green Parlour.

Wednesday, 12 November

Mayor Barbara Ludwig takes part in the 2nd Saxon Sustainability Conference with the festive presentation of the Hans-Carl-von-Carlowitz Sustainability Award 2014 and gives a welcoming address. Prof. Ulrich von Weizsäcker and Ulrich Grober will be honoured.

The laudators will be Prof Dr Kurt Biedenkopf, former MP for Ulrich Grober and Volker Angres, Head of the Environment Department at ZDF, for Prof Ulrich von Weizsäcker.

Chemnitz is hosting the two-day conference of construction ministers, the working group of ministers and senators responsible for urban development, construction and housing in the 16 German federal states (ARGEBAU).

The conference will be held at the Chemnitzer Hof on 13 and 14 November.

Mayor Barbara Ludwig welcomes the participants of the Construction Ministers' Conference at the start of the sightseeing and lecture programme prepared by the City of Chemnitz. After a presentation by Head of Urban Planning Börries Butenop, the guests will visit the SMAC and then the Chemnitz Art Collections.
