Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig gives a welcome address at the celebratory event to mark the 100th anniversary of the school on Humboldthöhe, now the Johannes Kepler Grammar School.

Opening of the special exhibition "SEILschaften - 140 years of conveyor systems from Leipzig for the world - from Adolf Bleichert to VEB VTA". The exhibition, which is on display in Chemnitz until 1 July, was developed in collaboration between the Saxon Industrial Museum Chemnitz and the Saxon Economic Archive Leipzig. The exhibition is accompanied by a lecture, guided tours and educational programmes.

The Hermes Fan Tour 2014 is travelling through Germany for four weeks under the motto "We bring you the championship trophy". Sports mayor Philipp Rochold welcomes the tour with the Bundesliga championship trophy at its stop in Chemnitz.

Opening of the special exhibition "Pieter Bruegel the Elder and the Theatre of the World".
The exhibition was organised in cooperation between the Chemnitz Art Collections and the Institute of Art and Musicology at the Technical University of Dresden.

Premiere of the play "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" in the dramatisation by Dale Wasserman based on the novel of the same name by Ken Kesey. Theatre director Carsten Knödler is responsible for the production.
