The Chemnitz Peace Prize will be awarded for the 16th time by the citizens' association FUER CHEMNITZ e.V. in cooperation with the city's migration commissioner, Etelka Kobuß. Mayor Miko Runkel will give a welcoming speech.

Chemnitz sets an example for peace: Numerous events and campaigns will take place on Peace Day to commemorate the destruction of the city and the victims of the Second World War as well as to set an example for democracy, tolerance, peaceful coexistence and cosmopolitanism, against hatred and right-wing extremism.
Mayor Barbara Ludwig will lay a wreath at the memorial for the victims of the bombing on 5 March.
