Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig is travelling to the twin city of Düsseldorf until Saturday, 31 August, for the "Second International Conference of Lord Mayors on Coexistence".
In the third Bundesliga football league, Chemnitzer FC will host 1860 Munich.

The Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chemnitz Opera Choir give a preview of the new season at the open-air concert to open the season. Diego Martin-Etxebarria and Jakob Brenner will conduct. General Director Christoph Dittrich will lead through the programme.

State elections take place in Saxony and Brandenburg.

The presentation of the election results in Chemnitz will take place in Chemnitz City Hall.

The 42nd Stauseelauf will take place, running mainly through the Rabenstein Forest. There is a 2 km run for everyone, runs over 5, 10 and 25 km, walking/nordic walking over 5 km and a 500 metre Bambini run.
