Monday, 25 August
Press conference with Mayor Philipp Rochold on the status of preparations for the new 2014/15 school year (PM 458 from 18/08/2014).
Time and place: 11 a.m., Chemnitz City Hall, Consultation Room 118.

Federal Minister of Economics Sigmar Gabriel visits the company EDC Electronic Design Chemnitz GmbH together with Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig.

Thursday, 28 August

Mayor Philipp Rochold will visit the Polish city of Lodz, Chemnitz's twin city, on behalf of the Lord Mayor from 28 to 30 August 2014. The Mayor will be accompanied by Dr Ruth Röcher, Chairwoman of the Jewish Community of Chemnitz. The reason for the visit to the twin city is the 70th anniversary of the commemoration of the liquidation of the Jewish ghetto by the German fascists.

City Treasurer Berthold Brehm opens the 20th Chemnitz City Festival on behalf of the Lord Mayor

opens the 20th Chemnitz City Festival. Artisans from Taiyuan, Chemnitz's Chinese twin city, are also among the participants in the anniversary city festival.

Time and place: 6 pm, stage on the market square by the town hall.

Friday, 29 August

City Treasurer Berthold Brehm congratulates Mr Reiner Grimm, Chairman of the Board of Sparkasse Chemnitz, on his 60th birthday on behalf of the Lord Mayor.

Time and place: 10 a.m., headquarters of Sparkasse Chemnitz, Bahnhofstraße.

Sunday, 31 August

State elections in Saxony: The presentation of the election results in Chemnitz will take place in the civic hall in the Moritzhof civic and administration centre.

Time and place: from 6 pm, Bürgerhalle, BVZ Moritzhof, Bahnhofstraße.

As part of the Chemnitz City Festival programme, the LIONS Club Chemnitz is organising the 4th Chemnitz Duck Race for a good cause. The yellow rubber racing ducks swim on the Chemnitz: the start is at the Bierbrücke bridge, the finish is at the Hartmannstraße bridge. Information on the results and the prize-giving ceremony from 5 pm on the Markt stage.

Time and place: 2 p.m., Bierbrücke; 5 p.m., stage on the market square.
