Monday,24 March
Invitation to a press conference with two guests from Timbuktu, Chemnitz's twin city in Mali (PM 155 of 21 March 2014). The discussion with Dr Mohamed Diagayété and Abdourahamane Touré will be accompanied by an appeal for donations to support the devastated city of Timbuktu.

Mayor Barbara Ludwig speaks at the 2014 annual conference of the Saxon Museum Association.

Career orientation with offers to try out and find out more are on the programme for girls and boys on the nationwide Girls' Day and Boys' Day (PM 147 from 18.03.2014). The Future Day in Chemnitz will be opened in the Bildungswerkstatt (BWC). Information: www.girls-day.de and www.boys-day.de

Mayor Barbara Ludwig chairs the association meeting of the Zweckverband Sächsisches Industriemuseum.

Mayor Barbara Ludwig will give a welcome address at the conference on "Cross-border cooperation between SMEs in the areas of research, development and qualification". At the event, the four most successful cooperation projects between East German companies and institutions and partners from the Czech Republic and/or Poland will also be honoured by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

Friday, 28 March
Closing of the 16th Chemnitz School Theatre Week with the presentation of the TuSCH (Theatre and School) challenge cup by the Director of the Saxon Education Agency, Béla Bélafi, who also donated the award last year.

Saturday, 29 March
Start of the traditional spring clean-up "For a clean Chemnitz" and the competition for the "Golden Broom". Both campaigns are under the patronage of Mayor Miko Runkel and, as in previous years, are organised by the City of Chemnitz's waste disposal and city cleaning company.

This is the tenth time that the Azubi- und Studientage, Germany's largest trade fair for training and studying, has been held at the Chemnitz Exhibition Centre.

4th International Porcelain Market Sales Exhibition at Klaffenbach Castle. At the opening, outstanding products will be honoured with the "Von Taube Prize", which has been awarded since 2007. Information: www.wasserschloss-klaffenbach.de
