Thursday, 20 March
On behalf of the Lord Mayor, Mayor Philipp Rochold receives Chemnitz athletes and coaches who took part in the Winter Olympics in Sochi, the Track Cycling World Championships in Cali and the Indoor World Championships in Sopot.
The reception will be attended by speed skating Olympians Nico Ihle and Alexej Baumgärtner with coach Klaus Ebert, track cycling World Championships participants Stefan Bötticher, Joachim Eilers and Max Niederlag with coach Ralf Müller, and indoor track and field World Championships participants David Storl and Christina Schwanitz with coach Sven Lang.

Saturday, 22 March
The international open BFV Ascota swimming festival in Chemnitz for the physically disabled, visually impaired and mentally/learning disabled is now in its 15th edition. The disabled and recreational sports club Ascota Chemnitz is expecting around 100 starters.

Mayor Philipp Rochold holds a reception for the participants of the annual conference and general meeting of the Saxon Museum Association taking place in Chemnitz from 22 to 24 March 2014.
Time and place: 7 pm, Chemnitz City Hall.
The annual conference on the topic "Between event and everyday museum life" will take place at the State Museum of Archaeology.

Sunday, 23 March
Opening of the 16th Chemnitz School Theatre Week from 23 to 28 March by Béla Bélafi, Director of the Saxon Education Agency, together with Mayor Philipp Rochold and General Director Dr Christoph Dittrich.
Two performances are on the programme for the opening evening: "Momo and the Time Thieves" based on the novel by Michael Ende, presented by the school theatre group "MISZMASZ" from the Polish twin city of Lodz, and "Made in GDR - a scenic self-interrogation", developed by pupils from the Chemnitz school model.
