Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig will give a speech at the public commemoration ceremony to mark the 60th anniversary of the popular uprising of 17 June 1953 and remember the victims of arbitrariness and persecution (PM 368 from 13.06.2013).

Tuesday, 18 June

Mayor Barbara Ludwig receives pupils from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School who have successfully taken part in the 2013 National Youth Music Competition.

Opening of a special exhibition with works by Andreas Dress spanning four decades. The exhibition, sponsored by the city's cultural office and the Kunsthütte association, will be on display in the Neue Sächsische Galerie until 18 August 2013.

Pupils from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School and the partner music school from Chomutov in the Czech Republic perform together in a concert (PM 285 from 28 May 2013).

Saturday, 22 June
The 5th Chemnitz Family Day will take place in Chemnitz city centre around the Rathaus Passagen under the motto "Children get moving". The event, which this time focuses on sport, is supported by the Chemnitz City Sports Association, among others.
Time and place: 10 am to 6 pm, around the Rathaus Passagen in the city centre.
The 24-hour mountain bike race "Heavy24" will take place at the weekend under the patronage of the Mayor of Chemnitz, Barbara Ludwig.

Chemnitz is hosting the 9th International Chemnitz Cup. The largest floorball tournament in Germany will take place on Saturday and Sunday under the motto "1001 Nights".
