Schedule for the week from 15 to 21 October 2012

Monday, 15 October
Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig takes part in a consultation at the Chemnitz Chamber of Crafts together with the district councillors.
Time and place: 9 a.m., Chemnitz Chamber of Crafts, Limbacher Straße.

Mayor Philipp Rochold opens the 17th International Film Festival "Schlingel" organised in Chemnitz for children and young audiences.
Time and place: 9.30 a.m., CineStar festival cinema, Galerie Roter Turm.
The festival programme from 15 to 21 October includes 103 films from 36 countries. One of the highlights is the awarding of the "Ehrenschlingel", which this year honours the actor Gojko Mitić (PM 606 from 09.10.2012).

Dr Peter Seifert, Mayor of Chemnitz for many years, is honoured with the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class for his services to the development of the city of Chemnitz. The Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany will be awarded at a ceremony in the Saxon State Chancellery (PM 620 from 12 October 2012).

Mayor Barbara Ludwig takes part in the energy forum of the company eins energie in Sachsen GmbH & Co KG.

Mayor Barbara Ludwig gives a welcome address to the participants of the traditional IG Metall jubilee event.
Time and place: 4 p.m., Chemnitz City Hall, Great Hall.

Thursday, 18 October
Invitation to the second Stefan Heym talk at Villa Esche: literary scholar Prof. Wolfgang Emmrich and sculptor Marion Kahnemann will give a talk on Heym's 1972 novel "Der König David Bericht" (The King David Report) (PM 609 from 10.10.2012).

Friday, 19 October
Premiere of the stage version of Cornelia Funke's "Tintenherz" in a production by Matthias Huber; the bestselling novel was adapted for the stage by Robert Koall.
Time and place: 6 pm, Schauspielhaus, large stage.

Saturday, 20 October
Premiere of Puccini's "Madama Butterfly" with Kyung-Hae Kang in the title role. Anja Krietsch is responsible for staging the performance in Italian and Lukas Beikircher is the musical director.
Time and place: 19:30, Chemnitz Opera House.
