The 10th symphony concert of the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra will feature pieces by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Alexander Borodin, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Modest Mussorgsky as a "Russian Gala Night". Felix Bender conducts.

The International Festival of Contemporary Dance - TANZ ǀ MODERNE ǀ TANZ - opens. Dr Eva-Maria Stange, Saxon State Minister for Science and the Arts, and Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig are the patrons. International artists will be giving samples of their skills until 18 June.

The Fichtelberg Cycle Marathon starts one week before the German Road Cycling Championships. The race on the Fichtelberg plateau (1215 m) will enter its sixth round over a distance of 87 kilometres and around 1900 metres in altitude. The organiser is the Stadtsportbund Chemnitz e.V.
