Opening of the Science Campus 2013: The event will take place from 12 to 15 August at various locations in Chemnitz and Freiberg, organised by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, TU Chemnitz and TU Bergakademie Freiberg.

Friday, 16 August
Grüna is celebrating the 750th anniversary of the Chemnitz district with a week of festivities from 16 to 25 August 2013. The programme includes the 150th anniversary of the Grüna volunteer fire brigade. Mayor Berthold Brehm will give the keynote speech at the celebratory event (PM 502 from 08/08/2013).
Time and place: 6 p.m., marquee, Mittelbacher Straße, Grüna district.
Chemnitz will host the Handball Masters on 17 and 18 August in the Richard-Hartmann-Halle. Information: www.handballmasters-chemnitz.de
On the evening before the tournament, the City of Chemnitz will host a reception for participants and officials in the town hall. The guests will be welcomed by Mayor Philipp Rochold.

Saturday, 17 August
Mayor Barbara Ludwig welcomes the members of the Grüna carnival club, which has been in existence for five decades in 2013, as well as the marching band and city soldiers of the Kölner Funken Artillerie.
Notes for the media: You will receive a separate press release about the photo session. The anniversary will be celebrated from 5 p.m. with an event in the marquee in the Grüna district of Chemnitz.

Chemnitz hosts the Handball Masters. Top European teams are expected to attend the men's handball tournament on 17 and 18 August in the Richard-Hartmann-Halle. Information: www.handballmasters-chemnitz.de
Invitations are extended to the 21st Chemnitz Jazz Festival in the city centre: the open-air event "Chemnitz swings" takes place on the Neumarkt at the town hall and presents jazz of all kinds, from traditional to groovy. Information: www.chemnitzer-jazzclub.de.
