At the opening of the "International Symposium on Smart Integrated Systems" on the occasion of Prof Dr Thomas Geßner's 60th birthday, Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig will give a welcoming speech for the Chemnitz native.
The internationally renowned physicist holds the Chair of Microtechnology at Chemnitz University of Technology and is Director of the Centre for Microtechnologies ZfM at Chemnitz University of Technology and the Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nano Systems ENAS.

Thursday, 14 August
Mayor Barbara Ludwig honours members of Chemnitz City Council who left the body after the local elections by inscribing them in the Golden Book of the City of Chemnitz. Seven city councillors who were unable to attend the event on 16 July 2014 will be honoured.
