Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig attends the Christmas concert in Chemnitz Castle Church: The 11th benefit concert in aid of the parents' association for children with cancer and the Vleugels organ in the Castle Church is organised by the Chemnitz branch of BMW.

Traditional New Year's Eve run through the Zeisigwald forest: The run over distances of three and ten kilometres is also the first race in the Chemnitz Running Cup 2013, starting and finishing at the sports hall on Forststraße. The event is organised by the Chemnitz Police Sports Club.

The Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra of Chemnitz will be performing Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 at the end of the year, conducted by Tobias Engeli.
