Saxon Textile Research Institute (STFI) receives the "Girls Day" trophy

On Monday, 27 April 2015, the "Girls Day" working group in Chemnitz will once again award the "Girls Day" trophy. For 14 years now, this award has been presented to technical companies that are committed to gender equality in career choices.
This year, the jury chose STFI, a medium-sized company dedicated to the research and development of technical textiles in a wide range of fields. In recent years, the company has trained 14 women, including five chemical laboratory assistants, seven textile laboratory assistants and two business administration graduates. All trainees were/are initially employed on a temporary basis and are taken on on a permanent basis once their temporary contracts expire.
This means that the percentage of women in the company is currently 52.6%. Women are also equally represented in management positions. When it comes to further training, etc., women are promoted just as much as men.
This equal opportunity for women and girls is now being recognised and the STFI has been awarded the "Girls Day" trophy. Managing Director Andreas Berthel will accept the award from representatives of the Girls Day Chemnitz working group on 27 April at 11:00 am. Pia Hamann, Equal Opportunities Officer of the City of Chemnitz, Anni Voigt from the Marketing department of Bildungswerkstatt Chemnitz and Janko Mauksch from the Technology Centre (TCC) will be present. This year's prize money is being donated by Niles Simmons Industrieanlagen GmbH.
