Saxon Old Age Assistance Prize 2016
The winner is the Chemnitz-based project DemenzNetz_C
The City of Chemnitz's DementiaNet_C project surprisingly won the 2016 Saxon Geriatric Care Award, which is endowed with 5000 euros.

This year, forward-looking models and projects from local authorities, initiatives, organisations and institutions were sought on the topic of "Care and support 2016 - care and shared responsibility in the community".
The cross-organisational project DemenzNetz_C from Chemnitz came out on top among nine applicants. The long-standing and innovative network work was particularly recognised. DementiaNetwork_C was founded in January 2015 from the existing support network Care_C, which has existed since 2009. Public, independent and private organisations and services work together in an exemplary manner. The 16 stakeholders are currently coordinated by Ina Platzer, Head of the Department for Assistance for the Elderly and Disabled and local care authority of the City of Chemnitz Social Welfare Office.
The aim of DemenzNetzes_C is to represent the interests of dementia sufferers and their relatives. The aim is to sensitise the public to the concerns of people with dementia by providing targeted information. The removal of taboos in dealing with the topic should enable those affected to accept support at an early stage.
The DementiaNet_C will be the point of contact for people seeking help, but also for organisations and services that are confronted with the topic of dementia. Needs-based support services will be created and organised in order to maintain life in familiar surroundings for as long as possible, even with dementia.
