Saxon Composers' Competition 2016 with musicians from Chemnitz

Three musicians from Chemnitz will perform at the Robert Schumann Conservatory in Zwickau on Saturday, 4 June 2016, on the occasion of the Third Saxon Composition Competition.

A total of five participants have been nominated for the award. Three of them come from Chemnitz and are closely associated with the Chemnitz Municipal Music School.

Nine-year-old Ben Lepetit has already been successful in several piano competitions and will play the two piano pieces "Chromatische Etüde" and "Vogelgesang", which were written as part of his composition lessons.

Like all competition participants, Daria Pauke will perform her trio "Darynja" herself on the piano, supported by her sisters Jara (violoncello) and Jorynn (viola). Until recently, the fourteen-year-old pupil at the Landesgymnasium für Musik Dresden was still learning double bass and piano at the Chemnitz Municipal Music School.

The piece "Vergeblichkeit" ("Futility"), based on a poem by Lion Feuchtwanger, was submitted by
eighteen-year-old Helene Brack. The composition for baritone, violoncello and piano by the former Chemnitz music student was written to commemorate the victims of the First World War.
