Sale of property decided

At its meeting today, the city council decided to sell a plot of land in Röhrdorf, in the Leipziger Straße industrial park. The property, which covers an area of almost four hectares, has a purchase price of around 1.5 million euros. Together with industrial property developer VGP, thyssenkrupp System Engineering GmbH will build a new plant for electromobility on the site.

A new, innovative production facility is being built in the Leipziger Straße industrial park, where thyssenkrupp employees will manufacture highly complex special machines and systems for the production of vehicle traction batteries. The investment volume of the plant is around 20 million euros. Up to 250 jobs are to be created.

According to current plans, the site will be developed in the coming months so that thyssenkrupp System Engineering can start production in the course of the year. The other buildings and infrastructure will then be expanded and completed.

The Mayor of Chemnitz, Barbara Ludwig, is delighted: "The investment by thyssenkrupp System Engineering is a strong signal for Chemnitz and is one of the most important in recent years."
