Work to repair the running track in Bürgerpark Gablenz will begin on Monday, 23 March. The 400-metre track, which is heavily overgrown with weeds, will be renewed over a continuous width of at least two metres. The weeds will be removed from the running track surface, which will then be milled through and a new surface layer applied.
The construction costs amount to around 25,000 euros. Completion is scheduled for April 2026.
The running track surface cannot be used during the construction work or for approximately three weeks after completion. The new path surface must settle during this time and must not be walked on. Please use the paths outside the upper level of the green area.
The work is being carried out by the company Der Wegebauer Lutter GmbH from Pollhagen. The work is being supervised by the City of Chemnitz Parks Department.
