Runners from Chemnitz's twin cities take part in the 8th Chemnitz Marathon
Once again this year, running enthusiasts from Chemnitz's twin cities will be among the participants in the Chemnitz Marathon. For example, 19 runners from Lodz in Poland and 21 from Usti nad Labem in the Czech Republic, five from the French twin city of Mulhouse and 19 from the North Rhine-Westphalian state capital of Düsseldorf will be starting in Chemnitz city centre at 10 a.m. on Saturday, 4 July. For the first time, the Lord Mayor of Düsseldorf, Mr Thomas Geisel, and his wife Vera will be taking part.
The runners are expected to arrive in Chemnitz on Friday, 3 July, to check into their accommodation in the youth hostel on Getreidemarkt and then later attend the "Noodle Party" traditionally held by the marathon organisers in the Galerie Roter Turm on the day before the marathon. On the day after the Chemnitz Marathon - another tradition - a guided tour of the city is once again on the programme for the guests from the twin cities.
About the Chemnitz Marathon: The race will once again run through Chemnitz city centre towards the city park and back. Four laps must be completed for the marathon distance. The Chemnitz Marathon running event is a non-profit project organised by all Lions Clubs in Chemnitz and the Saxon Leo Clubs and is one of the highlights of the Chemnitz running calendar.
