Rosenhof evening Chemnitz city culture

Event is part of Chemnitz's bid to become Capital of Culture

On Thursday, 28 June, from 5 p.m., all interested Chemnitz residents are cordially invited to another exciting evening of Chemnitz city culture open air at the Rosenhof. The event is part of Chemnitz's bid to become Capital of Culture 2025 and participation is free of charge.

Dr Urs Luczak, Head of the Arts and Culture Department at the Adult Education Centre, a qualified urban planner and sociologist, will lead the evening and encourage a joint exchange on Chemnitz city culture. Musicologist and pianist Thomas Kauba, who also teaches at the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre, will round off the evening with his musical classical contributions.

The outstanding development periods of Chemnitz and their architecture will be presented as examples, including industrial buildings, examples of Gründerzeit and Art Nouveau architecture, Neues Bauen and urban planning and the architecture of the GDR. Together, the aim is to work out the character of the city, its defining features as a starting point for the Capital of Culture 2025.

Selected urban spaces and squares will be presented. There will be a joint discussion on whether they meet the needs of the citizens today and ideas for future development will be exchanged. In an open atmosphere, in the form of a workshop at tables with plans and pictures, suggestions can be made and ideas for Chemnitz spun.
