ROOT CAMP VOL. 2 - Jazz workshop for young musicians
44 participants from all over Saxony at the jazz workshop on 21 and 22 May
On Saturday and Sunday, 21 and 22 May, the ROOT CAMP VOL. 2, a jazz workshop for young musicians, will take place in Chemnitz. After a first very successful joint event organised by the Saxon Jazz Association and the Saxon Music Council in summer 2021, there will now be a sequel - this time in cooperation with the Chemnitz Municipal Music School.
Once again, there will be a wide range of training programmes for young jazz musicians in Saxony. A total of 44 participants from all over Saxony have registered for the programme. A young Ukrainian singer, who now lives in Chemnitz, was also integrated into the workshop as a participant at short notice.
The workshops are aimed at young musicians who have already gained some experience in jazz. The ROOT CAMP offers the opportunity to expand existing skills and increase the fun of making (jazz) music together. In addition to tips and tricks for solo improvisation, participants will work on playing together, timing and sound in various ensembles and combos. Furthermore, there are various offers on the subject of musicians' health in order to sensitise young musicians to the topic of "healthy music-making".
By taking part in the workshop, it is also possible to qualify for admission to the Saxony Youth Jazz Orchestra.
The event is sponsored by the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony. In addition, the programme is co-financed by tax funds on the basis of the budget approved by the Saxon state parliament.
