"Room for senior citizens" opens
Consultation room for the Seniors' Advisory Council in the Technical Town Hall in future
On Thursday, 21 April at 10.30 a.m., the advisory room of the Senior Citizens' Advisory Council will be officially opened in the Stadt-Schau-Fenster in the Technical City Hall, Friedensplatz 1, in the presence of Dagmar Ruscheinsky, Mayor of Chemnitz for Education, Social Affairs, Youth, Culture and Sport. Representatives of the media are invited to attend.
After a welcome address by the Chairwoman of the Seniors' Advisory Council, Dr Heidi Becherer, who will also address the objectives for the building, the members of the Seniors' Advisory Council present will introduce themselves. Afterwards, all those present are invited to the "Room for Seniors" for an informal discussion on senior citizens' policy in the city of Chemnitz.
"The time has finally come for older people in Chemnitz to express their concerns, worries, wishes, requests, complaints and opinions on senior citizens' policy to the members of the Senior Citizens' Advisory Council in their 'own' room. We want to have an open ear for all citizens, discuss issues with them and work with them to find solutions," says Heidi Becherer, Chairwoman of the Seniors' Advisory Council.
On 24 June 2020, the city council decided to make such a room with barrier-free access available to the city's residents. Due to the pandemic, the decision can be realised almost a year and a half later.
Consultations will initially be offered on the first Tuesday of every month from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm and can be extended if necessary. The first appointment is scheduled for Tuesday, 3 May.
