Roger Rabenhold becomes the new head of the sports department
At its meeting this week, the city council elected Roger Rabenhold as the new head of the sports department.
Prior to his current position as a consultant (in the Department of Law, Safety and Environmental Protection), which he has held at the City of Chemnitz since April 2016, the 51-year-old from Chemnitz worked on the board of the Central German Co-operative Association and as head of accounting at Stadtmission Chemnitz e. V., among other things.
The keen amateur sportsman volunteers as treasurer of the Einsiedler ski club and as a member of the executive committee of the Chemnitz City Sports Association, the umbrella organisation for Chemnitz sports clubs. As the sports office is also responsible for allocating sports funding to the clubs, among other things, he will resign from both honorary posts.
Mayor Ralph Burghart: "Mr Rabenhold is taking over the management of the Sports Office at an exciting time in which a lot is happening. New buildings and the renovation of many sports facilities are imminent and form the basis for the development of popular and competitive sport in our city. He can rely on an experienced and highly committed team."
Roger Rabenhold is expected to take up his new post on 1 June.
