Rock 'n' Strings visit Leeds
After the municipal music school received a visit from "Roots alive", a lively folk ensemble from Leeds, Great Britain, at the start of the new school year, a return visit from music students from Chemnitz is now on the agenda. The young musicians from the "Rock'n'Strings" ensemble will be spending a week in Leeds from 7 to 14 March. The musicians from the municipal music school band will play several rehearsals and performances in the English city. Some of these will be together with "Roots alive" and a youth rock/jazz orchestra from the host schools.
A trip to York is planned for the young Chemnitz musicians, as well as a reception with the Lord Mayor and a city tour of Leeds. The Chemnitz pupils will visit Roundhay High School, where they will not only play a small concert, but also give a presentation about Chemnitz.
The aim of the music school exchange is to promote a greater understanding of Europe among young people, to show the creative side of Chemnitz and to promote the city's bid to become European Capital of Culture.
In April, guests from Leeds are invited to the Eurocities Cultural Forum in Chemnitz.
