Roadworks on the B 95 Leipziger Straße - Reichsstraße
Traffic obstructions between 13 and 27 November 2015
On Friday, the Leipziger Straße/Mattesstraße pedestrian and cycle crossing construction project will enter a new construction phase. For the construction of the central island, only one lane will be available in the direction of Hartmannstraße in the construction site area on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. until probably 20 November, which means that traffic jams are to be expected on Leipziger Straße heading towards the city centre. However, this restriction is unavoidable for construction reasons.
At the weekend, the roadworks area will be reduced in size so that a second lane will be available in the direction of Hartmannstraße to ease the traffic flow. Once the remaining work has been completed, the pedestrian crossing is scheduled to open on 28 November at the latest.
For a further construction project at Reichsstraße 26 (road section Wielandstraße - Weststraße) for the installation of house connections for waste water, drinking water and electricity, the carriageway of Reichsstraße will have to be restricted to one lane in each direction from 16 to 27 November. As the two access lanes to the Reichsstraße/Weststraße traffic lights cannot be fully utilised as a result, congestion is also to be expected on Reichsstraße in the direction of Limbacher Straße, possibly backing up as far as Zwickauer Straße. It is therefore recommended to use the Falkeplatz - Theaterstraße route between Zwickauer Straße and Hartmannstraße. As increased alternative traffic is also to be expected via Kaßbergstraße, a mobile traffic light system will be set up at the Weststraße/Kaßbergstraße junction to ensure traffic safety and efficiency at this junction.
In order to be able to put another section of the EINS fibre optic network into operation on Kaßberg, a gap must be closed by crossing Reichsstraße. This crossing will be constructed from 16 to 20 November at Walther-Oertel-Straße, with one side of the road closed. Only one lane will be available. Traffic will be regulated at this point by traffic lights. This will be included in the coordination of the traffic lights on the Reichsstraße to improve traffic flow and avoid tailbacks.
By carrying out the work at the same time as the first two measures mentioned above, this construction measure is easier to manage in terms of traffic, as a large proportion of the usual traffic will use this alternative route to the surrounding road network.
