Road tree planting and greening begins on the new Chemnitz West motorway feeder road
Traffic restrictions are necessary for this measure
After the new motorway feeder road from Oberfrohnaer Straße to the A72 motorway was opened to traffic at the end of October, road tree planting and greening work on the adjacent areas will begin in December (from week 49), subject to weather conditions.
Initially, 77 new street trees (oaks) will be planted along the new route. In addition, two narrow-crowned maples will be planted in the area of the Oberfrohnaer Straße road connection and four small-crowned oaks will be planted as street trees on Weydemeyerstraße in spring 2017. A further 14 trees (birches and oaks) will be planted in groups in the side areas along the route and grass will be sown.
During the work, traffic restrictions will be necessary and the road will be closed on one side with traffic lights.
Depending on the weather, the greening work should be completed by the end of April 2017 at the latest. The maintenance work by the landscaping company will then continue until autumn 2018.
The work will be carried out by the company Fachcenter Garten + STL-Bau GmbH from Hauptmannsgrün. Local construction supervision will be carried out by Iproplan Planungsgesellschaft mbH from Chemnitz, which was also commissioned with the planning. The costs for the planning and construction work for the greening of the new route totalled approx. 108,000 euros.
