Road resurfacing begins on B 173 east of Mittelbach
Next Monday, 10 July, work will begin on the B 173 to renew the carriageway, rebuild the left-side footpath/cycle path and renew the right-side footpath between Hofer Straße 4 in Mittelbach and the Neefestraße/Zwickauer Straße/Hofer Straße roundabout.
The necessary full closure of this 385m long section of the Bundesstraße 173 will come into force on Monday, 17 July 2017 and will remain in place until the end of construction. Traffic will be widely diverted via Grüna and Wüstenbrand.
In addition to the carriageway and pavement renewal, new lighting will also be installed on the footpath/cycle path and a central island will be installed at the entrance to Mittelbach. This will allow pedestrians and cyclists to cross the main road safely and help to calm traffic.
The construction work commissioned by the city of Chemnitz and the Plauen State Office for Road Construction and Transport will last until the end of October 2017. Chemnitzer Verkehrsbau GmbH was commissioned to carry out the work. The costs of the construction work amount to approx. 340,000 euros.
