Road renewal of Hofer Straße in the Mittelbach district continues
Half-sided closure with traffic lights from 7 September 2015
After Hofer Straße from Pflockenstraße to Grünaer Straße has been continuously renovated and extended over the past few years as part of the sewage system developments, it is now planned to continue this work as far as the entrance to Chemnitz (Reichenbrand).
Specifically, this concerns the section from No. 44 (end of the previous extension in the Grünaer Straße area) to the town entrance sign. This section, which is around 1.2 kilometres long in total, is to be renewed in two sections in 2015 and 2016.
From next Monday, 7 September 2015, the road construction work will begin in the Grünaer Straße area and should be completed as far as Falkestraße by the end of 2015. After the winter break, work will continue on the section from Falkestraße to the town entrance sign in 2016. Completion is planned by the fourth quarter of 2016.
In the expansion sections, it is planned to renew the asphalt structure of the road and to carry out alterations and extensions to the footpath in order to ensure a continuous one-sided footpath. In the section from Aktienstraße to the end of the village, the Saxon cycle traffic concept will be implemented (connection Neefestraße -Aktienstraße-Dorfstraße) by creating a protective cycle lane in Hofer Straße.
Furthermore, the road drainage systems will be renewed and supplemented and the existing bus stops will be converted to make them barrier-free. The project of the State Office for Road Construction and Transport (LASuV), which involves the expansion of the B173/Neefestraße junction, will continue on to Neefestraße.
The construction project will be carried out in sections in approx. 120 metre-long construction areas with half-side closures and traffic light control. The surface course will be paved at the end of each annual section on a weekend with full road closures.
The construction costs amount to around 700,000 euros
This project is being subsidised by the Free State of Saxony with around 525,000 euros as part of the funding for municipal road and bridge construction.
