Road construction work on Frankenberger Straße completed
Measures to improve road safety in the section from Eichendorffstraße to Mittweidaer Straße completed
The roadworks on Frankenberger Straße between Eichendorffstraße and Mittweidaer Straße, which began in March, have been completed. The associated traffic restrictions have already been lifted and the new traffic lights will be switched on tomorrow.
This construction measure included the installation of a centre island north of the Frankenberger/Eichendorffstraße junction, the installation of a traffic light system for pedestrians south of the junction and the installation of a new traffic light system for pedestrians south of the junction.south of the Frankenberger/Mittweidaer Straße junction, the barrier-free conversion of two bus stops and the renovation and extension of the landward footpath. Planting pits were also created, which will be planted with six new trees in October.
In this section of road, there is a pronounced need for pedestrians to cross (access to the public transport stops, use as a school route, concentration of retail, service and commercial facilities on Mittweidaer Straße). The construction project created safe footpath connections on the busy Frankenberger Straße, especially for school crossing.
The company HSE-BAU GmbH from Glauchau was commissioned to carry out the construction work following a public tender. The construction costs totalled 160,000 euros. The project was subsidised with 95,000 euros by the Free State of Saxony.
