Road closures for Deutsche Bahn construction work
The dismantling work on the railway overpasses at the Chemnitz railway arch is in full swing. For construction phase 2.1, Deutsche Bahn, in consultation with the city of Chemnitz, has planned changes to the road traffic routing at the beginning of the new year. The reason for this is to ensure safety during the demolition work on the individual railway overpasses.
The railway overpass (EÜ) on Uferstraße will be fully closed until the beginning of February 2020. From 3 February, Augustusburger Straße will be closed alternately and traffic will be diverted via Hans-Sachs-Straße, Uferstraße and Zieschestraße. Pedestrian and cycle traffic will be routed via an emergency route created between Uferstraße and Augustusburger Straße.
There will be a full road closure at the EÜ Reichenhainer Straße from 13 January 2020, from 7 am to 17 January 2020, 6 pm. A diversion will be in place via Fraunhoferstraße, Lutherstraße, Bernsdorfer Straße and Bernsbachplatz. A full footpath closure will be in place on 15 and 16 January 2020, from 7 am to 10 pm. Pedestrian traffic will be diverted via Südbahnstraße, Bernsdorfer Straße and Turnstraße.
The pavement at the Stollberger Straße level crossing will be fully closed from 17 January 2020, from 7 am, until 20 January 2020, until 8 pm. The diversion will be via the Reichsstraße level crossing at Mitte station.
At the Bernsdorfer Straße level crossing, there will be a full road closure from 20 January 2020, from 7 a.m., until 27 January 2020, until 12 noon, with a diversion via Lutherstraße, Fraunhoferstraße, Reichenhainer Straße and Bernsbachplatz. The road will then be closed on one side for four weeks. One-way traffic will be routed into the city centre via Bernsdorfer Straße and diverted out of the city centre via Reichenhainer Straße.
The complete closure of the footpath at the Bernsdorfer Straße railway crossing will begin at 7 a.m. on 24 January 2020 and will remain in place until 7 a.m. on 27 January 2020. Pedestrian traffic will be diverted via Turnstraße, Reichenhainer Straße and Südbahnstraße.
The work on the Chemnitz railway arch will be carried out up to the technical weather limits. Should circumstances change and weather conditions become unsuitable, Deutsche Bahn will adjust the construction schedule and the associated road closures accordingly at short notice. Deutsche Bahn asks for your understanding.
Information on the closures is also available from the City of Chemnitzconstruction site service and on Deutsche Bahn's project platform for the Chemnitz railway arch.
