Road closures and evacuations due to bomb discovery

Roads within a radius of 500 metres of the bomb site have to be closed and residents have to leave their homes, which is likely to affect well over 2000 people.
The streets affected are
- August-Bebel-Straße from Straße der Nationen to Dresdner Straße,
- Hilbersdorfer Straße, access to Sachsenallee multi-storey car park,
- Thomas-Mann-Platz (Sachsenallee),
- Dresdner Straße to Gellertstraße,
- Gellertstraße to HG 8,
- Palmstraße to HG 14,
- Hainstraße 94 to 124,
- Philippstraße to HG 6,
- Lessingstraße to HG 6,
- Peterstraße to HG 9,
- main railway station,
- Mauerstraße,
- Minna-Simon-Straße 1 and 3,
- Straße der Nationen 76, 78 to 126,
- Heinrich-Zille-Straße 1 to 4,
- Elisenstraße 1 to 3
In order to facilitate the evacuation measures of the city with the support of the police, we ask the residents of the affected streets to leave their homes independently if possible by 6 pm and to wait for the defusing of the explosive bomb with relatives, friends or acquaintances. The defusing is scheduled to begin at around 8 pm.
Anyone who is unable to do so can report to Gotthold-Ephraim-Lessing-Grundschule, Reinhardtstraße 6, or to the sports hall of the Chemnitz police sports club at Forststraße 9.

The "Sachsenallee" shopping centre will be closed from 5 pm.
Rail traffic at Chemnitz main station will be suspended at around 6.40 pm.
The police ask you to drive around the restricted area.
The diversion will be via Mühlenstraße - Müllerstraße - Zöllnerplatz - Blankenauer Straße - Emilienstraße - Hilbersdorfer Straße - Margaretenstraße - Frankenberger Straße - Hainstraße - Palmstraße - Zietenstraße - Fürstenstraße - Dresdner Straße - Waisenstraße - Bahnhofstraße - Carolastraße - Straße der Nationen - Georgstraße - Mühlenstraße.
