Riding in the forest: follow the rules
For many riders, riding in the forest is one of the most enjoyable leisure activities and spring marks the start of the season of more rides in the countryside. To ensure that nothing stands in the way of a relaxing ride, the provisions of the Saxon Forest Act and the Riding Route Ordinance must be observed when riding in the forest.
Accordingly, riding in the forest is only permitted on designated and marked trails. The bridleways are marked with a stylised horse's head. In addition, a riding levy must be paid for each horse ridden in the forest on designated bridleways, which can be applied for at the Lower Forestry Authority in the Green Areas Office. Yellow tags with valid stickers must be affixed to both sides of the horse's head or forehand as proof of payment of the levy.
In addition, consideration for other forest visitors is essential, so pedestrians should always be passed at walking pace. Adapting your riding speed to the terrain and the weather also ensures a safe and relaxing ride and protects the forest ecosystem from additional influences.
