On Friday, 14 November, 5.30 to 7 p.m., interested parties are invited to a lecture on Richard Wagner's connections to the city of Chemnitz in the city library in the TIETZ, event hall, Moritzstraße 20. Opera singer Petra Koziel will give an insight into Wagner's life and work to mark the 175th anniversary of the premiere of "Lohengrin" in Weimar. Soprano Maraike Schröter and pianist Claudia Lang will provide the musical accompaniment to the lecture.
Registration is possible at www.stadtbibliothek-chemnitz.de/buchen. The event is free of charge, but a donation to the theatre sponsorship association is requested. Representatives of the media are also invited to attend the event, which offers the opportunity to explore Richard Wagner's legacy and discover his influence on the culture of the region.
An unusual addition will be the exhibition of some props from Wagner performances at the opera house. In addition, a handwritten letter from Wagner from 1875 will be presented, which is one of the special treasures of the Chemnitz City Library. This letter was restored with the support of the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra and is otherwise not accessible to the public.
