Births
2,554 children were born in Chemnitz in 2025. Unlike in previous years, more girls (1,304) than boys (1,250) were born in 2025. 49 couples were happy to have twins.
There were slightly fewer births compared to the previous year: 2,713 children were born in Chemnitz in 2024.
In 2025, the registry office once again registered newborns with various nationalities (1,240), including Ukraine, Syria, Eritrea, Afghanistan, Russia, Vietnam, Somalia, Iraq and Iran.

Deaths
4,437 deaths were registered at the Chemnitz registry office in 2025. Overall, the number of deaths was therefore slightly lower than in the previous year: 4,489 deaths were notarised in 2024.
Marriages
707 couples said "I do" at the Chemnitz registry office in 2025. As every year, the summer months are the most popular for weddings. May with 105 couples, August with 97 couples and September with 91 couples were the months with the most marriages.
There was a slight increase compared to the previous year: 681 couples got married at the Chemnitz registry office in 2024.
Most marriages once again took place in the Old Town Hall. 330 couples tied the knot there.
The popularity of small-scale weddings was once again evident in 2025: The wedding room in the Moritzhof civic and administration centre was used for 184 weddings.
The Klaffenbach moated castle was used by 80 couples, Hotel Schloss Rabenstein by 47 couples, the Zeisigwald chapel by 36 couples and Villa Esche by 10 couples. Other marriages took place in the Felsendomen Rabenstein (10), in Grüna town hall (4) and in the eins stadium on Gellertstraße (2).
Last year, the bride and groom were again from different countries (91), including Syria, Turkey, Tunisia, Vietnam, Thailand, France, Italy, Greece, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Ukraine.
