Births
2,713 children were born in Chemnitz in 2024. As in previous years, more boys (1,391) were born than girls (1,322). 54 pairs of parents were able to celebrate multiple births, with 53 twins and one triplet being born.
Compared to the previous year, there were slightly fewer births: 2,903 children were born in Chemnitz in 2023.
The registry office also registered 1,252 newborns from various countries in 2024, including Ukraine, Syria, Eritrea, Afghanistan, Russia, Vietnam, Somalia, Iraq and Iran.

Deaths
4,489 deaths were registered at the Chemnitz registry office in 2024. Overall, the number of deaths was slightly lower than in the previous year: 4,588 deaths were notarised in 2023.
Marriages
681 couples said "I do" at the Chemnitz registry office in 2024. As every year, the summer months are the most popular for weddings. August with 99 couples, June with 94 couples and May with 87 couples were the months with the most marriages.
There was a decline compared to the previous year: 745 couples got married in 2023.
Most marriages once again took place in the Old Town Hall. 315 couples tied the knot there. One option that is becoming increasingly popular is the wedding room in the Moritzhof civic and administration centre. 143 couples said "I do" there. In the Klaffenbach moated castle, 89 couples exchanged vows, in the Rabenstein Castle hotel 65 couples, in the Zeisigwald chapel 43 couples and in the Villa Esche 16 couples. Other marriages took place in the Felsendomen Rabenstein (8) and in Grüna Town Hall (2).
Last year, 73 different nationalities were among the bridal couples: Syria, Turkey, Tunisia, Vietnam, Thailand, France, Italy, Greece, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Ukraine, among others.
