Review of the year from the registry office 2020

3,412 children were born in Chemnitz in 2020 - Emma and Emil top the list of first names - 695 couples tied the knot in 2020

Births
3,412 children were born in Chemnitz in 2020. As in previous years, more boys (1,769) than girls (1,643) were born. Twins were born 101 times: 35 boys, 31 girls and 35 mixed pairs. One triplet birth (two girls and one boy) was born in Chemnitz. The registry office registered newborns with various nationalities, including Syria, Iran, Iraq, Russian Federation, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania, Somalia, Eritrea and Vietnam.

Deaths
4,805 deaths were registered at the Chemnitz registry office in 2020


Marriages
795 couples exchanged vows at the Chemnitz registry office in 2020. As every year, the summer months are the most popular for weddings. July, with 111 couples, and August, with 110 couples, were the months with the most marriages. October, with 98 couples, and June and September, with 93 couples each, were also very popular with bridal couples. Most marriages again took place in the Old Town Hall. 412 couples tied the knot there. In the moated castle Klaffenbach 96 couples said "I do", in the Hotel Schloss Rabenstein 47 couples, in the chapel Zeisigwald 35 couples and in the Villa Esche 30 couples. Other weddings took place in the Felsendomen Rabenstein, in Grüna Town Hall and in the historic tram. Last year, various nationalities were once again among the bridal couples, including couples from the Philippines, Ukraine, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan and Romania.
