3,470 children were born in Chemnitz in 2019. As in previous years, more boys (1,802) than girls (1,668) were born. 97 twins were born: 33 boys, 27 girls and 37 mixed pairs. Two triplets were born in Chemnitz.
The registry office registered newborns of various nationalities, including Syria, Iraq, Iran, Somalia, Eritrea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.

Marriages
837 couples exchanged vows at the Chemnitz registry office in 2019. As every year, the summer months are the most popular for weddings. May with 110 couples, June with 104 couples and September with 121 couples were the months with the most marriages. Most marriages took place in the Old Town Hall in 2019. 430 couples tied the knot there. The Klaffenbach moated castle saw 93 couples say "I do", the Zeisigwald chapel 58 couples, Hotel Schloss Rabenstein 46 couples and Villa Esche 24 couples. Other marriages took place in the rock domes and in the historic tram.
Last year, various nations were once again among the bridal couples, including from Russia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Ukraine and Poland.
