3,677 children were born in Chemnitz in 2017 - Emma and Henry top the list of favourite first names - 865 couples tied the knot in 2017
Births
3,677 children were born in Chemnitz in 2017 - 254 more than in 2016. As in previous years, more boys (1,861) than girls (1,816) were born in 2017.
Twins were born 95 times: 35 pairs of girls, 24 pairs of boys and
36 mixed couples.
The registry office also registered newborns of various nationalities, including Vietnam, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, Eritrea, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Russia and Ukraine.

Deaths
4,229 deaths were registered at the Chemnitz registry office in 2017 - 125 more than in 2016.
Marriages
865 couples said "Yes, I do" to each other in the Chemnitz registry office in 2017. (That is 68 more marriages than in 2016)
The summer months continue to be very popular for weddings. July with 122 couples, September with 114 couples and August with 107 couples were the months with the most marriages.
Most marriages took place in the Old Town Hall in 2017. 421 couples tied the knot there. The Klaffenbach moated castle saw 111 couples say "I do", the Zeisigwald chapel 79 couples, the Villa Esche 36 couples and the Schlosshotel Rabenstein 55 couples.
Last year, various nationalities were once again represented among the bridal couples, including couples from Tunisia, the Philippines, Ukraine, Russia, Thailand, Afghanistan, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
Furthermore, 20 same-sex civil partnerships were established at the registry office, nine of which were female and eleven male. Two same-sex marriages were also performed.

The Chemnitz registry office is offering special wedding dates for 2018:
On Saturday, 23 June 2018 - marriage ceremony in the evening at the town hall - and on Wednesday,
8 August 2018 in the town hall, in the moated castle Klaffenbach and in the Villa Esche.
