Births
3,561 children were born in Chemnitz in 2018. As in previous years, more boys (1,861) were born than girls (1,690).
Twins were born 97 times: 45 boys, 26 girls and 26 mixed pairs. One triplet birth (girl) was born in Chemnitz.
The registry office also registered newborns of various nationalities, including Syria, Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Lebanon, Eritrea, Somalia, Afghanistan, Russia and Ukraine.

907 couples exchanged vows at the Chemnitz registry office in 2018. (That is 42 more marriages than in 2017)
The summer months continue to be very popular for weddings. August with 139 couples, July with 118 couples and June with 109 couples were the months with the most marriages.
Most marriages took place on the premises of the Old Town Hall in 2018. 467 couples tied the knot there. In the moated castle Klaffenbach 102 couples said "I do", in the Schlosshotel Rabenstein 56 couples, in the chapel Zeisigwald 54 couples, in the Villa Esche 29 couples and in the Felsendomen 13 couples.
Last year, various nationalities were again represented among the bridal couples, including from Ukraine, Russia, Thailand, Poland, Tunisia, Turkey, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
Marriages in 2019
The Chemnitz registry office is also offering a special wedding date for 2019: on Thursday, 19 September 2019.
